Election Announcement

This is to invite you to participate in this years elections for certain roles in service of IODA.

1) In 2016 the position of IODA President is up for elections as Peter Kalmar’s first term as president ends in April 2016. Peter has done wonderful work for IODA, but has decided not to stand for a second term at this time.
Following the EC decision at the IODA Telco meeting on January 23rd, 2016 we are now commencing the process to elect a new president and inviting you to participate thoughtfully in this election.  Further details of this position are below.

2) Once this position is elected and announced we will have a second round of elections this year to begin filling other roles in our EC. We expect details of those elections to be announced during May.

ELECTIONS FOR PRESIDENT

General role and term of the President

The president is the head and general representative of the association and shall have general charge of the business affairs and property of the association.
The president guides IODA in fulfilling its vision and mission in line with its values.
The president has a three year term of office starting after the results have been announced. There will be a ‘hand-over’ period between the election and the annual conference in India. The installation of the position will be celebrated during the Conference in India.

ELECTION PROCESS

IODA members will have the opportunity to nominate themselves or recommend other members.

Election Committee
To conduct the elections a four-person Election Committee has been formed:
Rod Barnett, Vice President and Chair of the Election Committee;
Jose Campoverde, Member of the Election Committee;
Ken Nishikawa, Member of the Election Committee;
Silke Haebold, Operations Manager and Election Clerk

The election process will take place during the period MARCH 2016 – MAY 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for Nomination
Any IODA member seeking nomination must be a paying member in good standing for the current year. Any IODA member who is eligible to vote and who meets the nomination criteria may self-nominate or nominate another member who meets the criteria for eligibility for nomination. All members being nominated by others must be informed and have given assent before their names can be sent in as nominations.

Eligibility Criteria to vote
To be eligible to vote, IODA members must have paid their membership dues within the last 365 days. The reference day for counting back 365 days will be the date one will receive the link for the online voting system. It is always possible to register or renew as IODA member during the voting period. Each member may cast only one vote.

Voting Process
Voting will take place if there are multiple candidates for the position as president and will be conducted using a formal and confidential process. The procedure will be easy to use and will be anonymous by using the online voting system CIVS.
The Election Committee will announce the election results to the candidates, members of the Executive Committee and IODA members.
We invite all IODA members who meet the eligibility criteria to participate in the voting process and vote for the position as President that is up for election.
Please think also about nominating yourself or recommending other IODA members for this position in which they can make an important contribution in guiding the development of IODA together with your fellow members.
