IODA Workshop | OD in Times of Polycrisis – How Can We Help Organizations to Adapt?

October 25 @ 15:00 16:30 SAST

Organizations have been grappling with a VUCA world for some time—one marked by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. But today, the challenges are even greater. We are now in a polycrisis, where economic, social, environmental, and political systems are intertwined, and disruptions in one area ripple across all others.

From trade wars and supply chain breakdowns to rising inequality, food insecurity, regional conflicts, and the breaching of six of our nine planetary boundaries, it has become urgent to move beyond “business as usual.” For many organizations, this moment can feel like there is no solid ground on which to plan or strategise. Yet this groundlessness also offers fertile soil for reimagining purpose, reshaping practice, and embracing organic, emergent strategy.

This workshop, led by OD Consultant Michelle de Bruyn, will be an interactive opportunity to explore how OD can be valuable in this context, and what values, tools, and approaches may be most useful to us in supporting organisations through this time. Lakshmidevi Vasudevan will co-facilitate through reflecting back to the group discussion from her perspective.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Hands-on approaches to emergent strategy and organic planning
  • Questions and tools to guide organisations navigating the polycrisis
  • Principles to strengthen resilience and purpose in turbulent systems
