RBA WINNER 2016
Mee-Yan Cheung-Judge, UK
We offer our congratulations to Mee-Yan Cheung-Judge, the winner of the 2016 Richard Beckhard Award, recognizing her sustained, outstanding, global contributions to the field of OD. The Beckhard Award was presented Mee-Yan during this year’s IODA FLOURISH! Conference at the Sustainability Institute, Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Currently the principal and driving force behind Quality & Equality Ltd, the consulting firm she founded after a distinguished career in academia, Mee-Yan is now one of the most influential, well-known, and highly-regarded “scholar-practitioners” in the field of Organization Development. Over the years, Mee-Yan has worked with executives and leadership teams in a variety of prominent, global businesses and organizations, across sectors and industries, to create powerful transformational change—an area of special expertise.
For example, she guided the BBC through one of its largest change initiatives, involving 17,000 people in the co-creation of a desired future for the organization, and she has also designed and facilitated culture change projects for well-known, global pharmaceutical, retail, energy, and media organizations.
In addition to her consulting practice, Mee-Yan is also an influential educator and author. She currently teaches senior leaders in several key government and corporate leadership development programs, and she has written a number of important OD articles and reports. Her book, Organization Development: A Practitioner’s Guide for OD and HR (Kogan Page, April 2011; 2nd edition, May 2015), with guest author Linda Holbeche, has become an indispensable text in the libraries of both experienced and emerging OD practitioners.
A professional member of the NTL Institute, she has also served as an international member of the Board of the Organization Development Network, and she now serves as a special advisor to the Organization Development Network in Europe.
Known for her personal warmth, her colleagues and clients also appreciate her ability to engage them in “straight talk” about covert issues that sub-optimize individual and system brilliance.
We are particularly grateful for Mee-Yan’s compelling keynote presentation during this year’s IODA Flourish Conference, and we are pleased and proud to welcome her as a new IODA member.
