SUMMARY:Life-Centred OD: Our Contributions as OD Practitioners to Support Climate Resilience | Session 3
DESCRIPTION:We hope you will join us for the third session of IODA’s Climate Resilience series of workshops led by three IODA members: Lakshmidevi Vasudevan\, Michelle de Bruyn & Jen Freeman. You are welcome to participate even if you did not join the previous sessions.   \n\n\n\nThe focus\n\n\n\nClimate volatility is one of the biggest risks facing organisations today. The 2023 report from the United Nations Panel on Climate Change (UNPCC) notes the “rapidly narrowing window of opportunity to enable climate resilient development”. Scientific information has not been enough to shift behaviour and human systems at a fast enough pace to achieve the changes needed within this window. Approaches that generate fear have often resulted in a sense of overwhelm\, feeling numb and disconnected rather than positive action towards climate resilience.  \n\n\n\nAs we know in the OD field\, it is a combination of minds\, hearts\, culture and systems that can support rapid change. An embodied and re-connecting approach can help people to deeply understand\, deal with emotions\, change behaviour and shift collectively. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect from the session\n\n\n\nThe theme for this session is “Head\, Heart\, Gut\, Feet” – exploring an embodied and integrated approach to building climate resilience. \n\n\n\nDuring this interactive session participants will:– Learn more about the growing scientific evidence of our multiple brains (head\, heart\, gut)\, and how they impact on our capacity to sense\, adapt and build collective resilience in times of high uncertainty– Play with the direct sensing capacity of the “head brain”– Try out techniques to embrace our “heart brain”\, acknowledge our love for nature\, move through our emotions\, and direct this towards positive energy– Listen to our “gut mind” and explore how we can feel more nourished\, nurtured and equipped for action– Based on this grounded and integrated approach\, explore next steps and actions \n\n\n\nThe outcomes\n\n\n\nWe hope you will leave the sessions with: \n\n\n\n\nAn understanding of how OD practitioners perceive climate change\n\n\n\nAn increased understanding of the current and potential role of OD practitioners in supporting climate resilience\n\n\n\nCollaborative ways of actioning climate change urgency through OD practice/through the work that we do.\n\n\n\nA centered\, embodied\, and grounded approach to support climate resilience and nature positive approaches.\n\n\n\n\nEvent details\n\n\n\nDate: Saturday February 22nd \n\n\n\nLength: 90 minutes \n\n\n\nCost: This workshop will be free of charge for members as well as non-members of IODA.
