SUMMARY:Life-Centred OD Session 2: Story & Narrative as a Tool to Facilitate Positive Climate Change Actions
DESCRIPTION:The focus\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe hope you will join us during the second session of IODA’s Climate Resilience series of workshops led by three IODA members: Lakshmidevi Vasudevan\, Michelle de Bruyn & Jen Freeman. \n\n\n\nThe focus of this session is inspired by an awakening quote from Alina Siegfried\, author\, storyteller\, narrative strategist\, systems-shaker\, poet\, whose words will guide our exploration of narrative and story transformation. \n\n\n\nThe modern world is facing many complex\, interconnected challenges\, most of which threaten the stability of life on this planet — both human and otherwise. Climate change\, poverty\, rising inequality\, polarisation\, systemic racism\, deforestation\, loss of biodiversity… all are the result of broken stories; stories that have led us astray. \n\n\n\nTo solve these problems\, I believe that we have to focus on telling new stories and shifting predominant social narratives about our relationships between ourselves\, others\, and the natural world around us. We need new guiding myths that comfort us\, reassure us of our purpose\, and act as a beacon of hope towards a better future. \n\n\n\nAbout the session\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the second session of our Life-Centred OD series\, we dive into the transformative power of story. Our focus will be on how shifting personal and organizational narratives can inspire creativity and resilience in addressing climate change. Through collaborative discussion\, we will explore: \n\n\n\n\nFinding your authentic voice in a time of crisis.\n\n\n\nHow organizations can update and reinvent their stories to align with climate-positive actions.\n\n\n\nShifting narratives as a way to empower yourself and strengthen community bonds.\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, let’s explore how we can reframe our narratives to foster a hopeful and sustainable future. \n\n\n\nWho Should Join\n\n\n\nThis session is open to both IODA members and non-members\, including practitioners\, entrepreneurs\, business owners\, and anyone eager to nurture community\, collaboration\, and impactful action. \n\n\n\nEvent details\n\n\n\nDate: December 6th / December 7th (Depending on time zone) \n\n\n\nLength: 90 minutes \n\n\n\nCost: This workshop will be free of charge for members as well as non-members of IODA.
